The excitation sources used are specially designed pulsed LED's. The wavelength depends on the LED used. We currently have twenty-one choices in LED's that cover the wavelength range from 260 nm to 700 nm. We are constantly working on developing special electronics for new LED's. Therefore if the wavelength that you require is not on our current list—ask us. It may already be in development.
The LED's operate with specific spectral bandwidths and are used for excitation wavelength selection. Normally filters are not required.
To change LED's is very simple, snap in - snap out. There is nothing to align.

EasyLife™ V offers great sensitivity in measurement. Using fluorescein as a reference, 400 picomolar concentration can be easily detected.
The emission is measured by means of a patented stroboscopic PMT. The standard wavelength range of detection is from 185 to 680 nm. At the time of order you can specify to have the system equipped with an optional PMT that will extend the detection wavelength to 900 nm.
The emission wavelength selection is by means of long pass filters, which you may purchase from OBB.
The standard sample compartment is equipped with a themostable sample holder for a 10 mm cuvette—one quartz cuvette comes with the system. Heating or cooling is by means of an optional circulating water bath. At time of order, one can have the sample holder fitted with a variable stir option.
The sample holder can accommodate and works well with microcuvettes. You can order the microcuvette from OBB, or use others as long as the optical height is 15 mm. A solid sample holder is available.
For additional cooling you can order OBB's liquid nitrogen dewar for EasyLife™ V. (Please see Hardware and Accessories for more information on the Cold Finger Dewar Accessory)
Given the price for the system, we cannot afford to demonstrate it. But if you place an order with us, you have a fourteen-day period in which to determine if EasyLife™ V is for you. If you are not happy with the system, for any reason—or no reason, you can return it to us at no charge. This offer may not be available in all areas.
